Light Africa School was established with the goal of encouraging more children to access school and achieve education in Uganda. In its more than 10 years of existence, the School has grown to serve 700 elementary school students and 500 high school students that would never have an opportunity to go to school because education is not free in Uganda.
In 2015, PETNA Foundation provided funds to build Science and Computer laboratories to Light Africa Secondary School. Students were performing badly in sciences because they could not have practical (hands on) sciences in the school. Also, in 2018, The PETNA Foundation provided the funds necessary to employ two science teachers to help to enhance student achievement in this key area. According to the school’s Founder, Pastor James Teira, this support has had a transformative impact on the science department at the school and excellent results are being achieved. “Our school is now among the best schools in Uganda. We are now getting our students join colleges to become engineers, doctors… We thank the PETNA leadership for all your contributions.” Says James.
