When I moved to the valley in 1986, to work in the Technology Development organization at Intel, I was the only black person in my entire unit.
It has been quite a journey that included becoming the first black CTO of a publicly traded technology company, being part of the senior leadership team that built Flex into a $30B business, having the opportunity to serve as CEO of a semiconductor company, and as a board member of several public companies.
I am honored to be recognized at the upcoming Silicon Valley Culture Shifting Awards, now in its 10th year honoring those who have helped to make tech and business leadership stronger through diversity. Looking forward to sharing my story and hearing the inspiring stories of others as well.
I proudly wear the badge of “Culture Shifter” and I am confident my story can inspire others to be even more intentional about cultivating the next generation of leadership opportunities for underrepresented minorities.
